2 Great Leadership Lessons from Nick Saban and Scott Frost

If you just look, there are leadership lessons all around you.  One great place to learn from is the world of sports.  The building, coaching and leading a sports team has so many similarities to leading an organization or team in the workplace.

One sport that provides many great examples is college football. The college football season ended this week in dramatic fashion with Alabama beat Georgia in overtime. I thought it was worth pulling a few lessons from the season to help you on your leadership journey in 2018.

Lesson #1

Nick Saban gave us an incredible example in the National Championship game when he benched his 25-2 starting quarterback for a Freshman that had never started a game in his career.  Remember, “Great leaders, make tough decisions especially when they are tough”

Lesson #2

Scott Frost took over a 0-12 University of Central Florida Football team and two years later they went a perfect 13-0.  Frost did an incredible job instilling belief in his players and putting the focus on his players and not himself. Remember, “Make it about them, not about you”
