A leader is someone whose actions inspires, empowers and serves others to elevate others over an extended period of time. Today’s modern workforce not only needs this kind of leader, they demand it. Through our research and experience, we have identified the best leaders are what we call Elevaters.
Elevaters are leaders who lead for others, make a lasting impact, and create healthier places to work. The most common thing elevaters do is simultaneously leverage high levels of love and discipline. We have come to define love and discipline this way:
Love: To contribute to someone’s long term success and well being.
Discipline: To promote standards in order for an individual to choose to be at their best.
Our research is built off of the blending the old and the new. A 1960’s study called the Managerial Grid (Blake and Mouton 1964), leadership assessment results from 35,000+ organizational leaders, interviews with over 200 current leaders, and finally studying the top leaders in history. These findings produced 5 distinct leader profiles: Manager, Pleaser, Ruler, Dabbler, & Elevater.
The book allows readers to identify their current leadership style with a profile. But knowing your profile isn’t enough. In the end, it comes down to wisdom and application. Eades helps to transform hearts and minds in the first section of the book, then he teaches the EO Framework through the second and third sections of the book. He does this through sharing stories, ideas, models, and tools to help leaders apply what they learn in their career. The book follows a similar curriculum with the content LearnLoft teaches in its Elevate Others Workshops.
